COMPANY: Know-how
A historical company facing the future
Built in 1924, the Gauchy industrial site is the trailblazer in the production of artificial silk known as rayon. This historical precedence in the fibre business is the basis of a rapid and effective change of course in the 70s towards synthetic polyester fibres.
Subsequently bought out by the Rhône Poulenc Group, the Gauchy site successfully combines its expertise with the R&D backing of Rhône Poulenc to optimise its manufacturing process and guarantee a high-quality product both in fibre and in PET:
- In the 90s, collaboration between Tergal Industries and Danone resulted in the launch of the first PET bottle for Evian water on the French market
- "Tergal®" remains one of the most outstanding textiles of the 20th century
Expertise to meet today's challenges
This mix of skills and experience based at the Gauchy site means that an innovation strategy seeking to meet the demands of a constantly changing market can be developed.
High-tech fibres and recycled or modified resins such as LacPET™ prove where the expertise of Tergal Industries can benefit the dynamism of these markets.
